Dale Rieke is a self-supported artist, furniture maker and woodworker. For over 20 years Dale has been commissioned, both locally and nationally, to create one-of-a-kind pieces. Though initially furniture was his primary focus, he has in the past several years become increasingly interested in functional and interactive art.

Born in Cleveland Ohio, his family moved to Sarasota in the late seventies, where he lives and works today. He is inspired locally by Wilson Stiles and Don Chappell, and by many architects, designers and passionate lovers of early to mid-century modern design. Current fascinations include Jesus Soto, Martin Puryear, and Andrew Goldsworthy.

Dale has recently completed commissioned works in New York and Sarasota and is currently putting together a collection of art pieces inspired by worldly travels. He works from his studio, which, set in a tropical garden, fills him with the inspiration that nurtures his creative spirit.
